Nas and windows 7

If your drive contains ane type of media, music or video, Win 7 will use the drive as a "Windows Media Connect" device, only opening the drive in Media Player, thus displaying only media files I found however, that it is possible to add the drive as a network drive, if you know the name of the root folder. Why Microsoft have chosen to make this type of simple network file access so difficult to obtain, just blows my mind, knowing that WinXP did this so easily Was this reply helpful?

Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. We could also add Plex or Kodi software to stream media files from various rooms of our home with devices that are connected to the network.

If you like to pre-record TV to watch at a later time, this will come in handy. The hard drives you choose to use are your own personal preference. This way all data is mirrored between hard drives making it so that if one fails, the other will still hold all data. Mapping files depends on the chosen NAS.

A NAS router will usually come with its own speeds, features, and capabilities in terms of mapping and backing up files. Synology is one of the better known names when it comes to NAS devices. This will make it easier for anyone familiar with the internal workings of a PC and the Windows 10 operating system.

Mapping files to the NAS is the same as mapping a network drive. There are however, occasions where it may not show up. I also have had good success with the go flex seagate network hard drives, they aren't reviewed very well online but for streaming content to ps3 and xbox mine has worked flawless for 2 years and was just over bucks for 2TB, plus I can access it anywhere, although the remote access feature is slow, anywhere on my home network it's quick and has been reliable!
