As simple as this sounds, putting the fan in place was actually more difficult than we thought. That gives you a little wiggle room to get the holes lined up properly.

The instructions say to make sure they are down, but that is totally untrue. Up worked way better! Once that is complete, the only thing that is left to do is to wire the fans to your 12v distribution fuse block and install the trim ring. Installing the trim ring is covered in the installing the ceiling section of this build. Sign up to our newsletter! Do I need to wire each fan separately to its own fuse slot or can I wire them together into one?

Hi Nate I have found your posts and tutorials helpful for my Transit build, and I bought your hi-def wire diagram, which was very useful Have you heard of problems with the MaxxFan not functioning, and actually frying, if the voltage is over My system is routinely at I reset it and tried again, and now it doesn't work at all.

I only read great things about the Maxxfan before buying. Now that I am in troubleshooting mode I see dozens of posts by folks with the same problem. People are suggesting inline diodes or voltage regulators, both of which consume power.

Do you have any thoughts on this? Did you have any issues? We are having a hard time wiring our fan!!! Should it be fan to fuse to battery, or fuse to solar charger?? Check out this useful video from the manufacturers showing how to install a Maxxair fan in a camper. For more great product information, head over to their website. Unfortunately, the wires that come with the Maxxair fan are not long enough to attach directly to your batteries.

Butt connectors are a great tool to extend the length of your wires. The butt connectors we recommend above come heat shrink ready.

Which means you just need to apply heat, from a heat gun, to seal the butt connectors to the wires. Which type of wires do you need? They come with an additional outer jacket for added wire protection. We think they work pretty great. It cuts and strips electrical wires. And is a great crimping tool as well. A 12v distribution panel helps to keep your wiring orderly and provides an individual safety fuse for each device.

These will allow you to connect all your 14AWG wires to your 12v distribution panel. Not sure how to do this? You can also download our free campervan electrical guide below. Was This Post Helpful? From time to time, we clean the interior flange area with a wet wipe. This is the easiest part of the fan to clean. The mesh fan needs to be removed to be properly cleaned.

You may need to jiggle the knobs a bit, but they should eventually rotate around. We then rinse the mesh in warm water with a light detergent. This method really helps to loosen all the grease that is attached to the mesh. We will still use our hands to work in the detergent. And just like with the mesh, we only used warm water with a light detergent. Once you get to the roof, remove the four nuts holding the vent cover to the main fan unit.

You can then remove the rain cover and wash the cover with warm soapy water. We hoped our Maxxair Fan installation guide was informational and helps you to install your own vent fan on your camper.
